weaning baby to formula- mama has headaches?

baby weaning
mac asked:

I’ve recently been weaning my 6 month old to formula from exclusive breastfeeding. It’s been about 3 weeks and he is down to one breastfeeding a day and the rest are bottles.

My question is…I have been feeling moody, tired, and have terrible headaches for the past week or so. Is this a result of hormonal changes since I’m not breastfeeding exclusively anymore? Does anyone have any tips? I have not had any pain or engorgement as I wean him. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, sounds like hormones, because, even though you may be feeling relief on the surface, you may also be feeling subconciously guilty for weaning him now. Don’t sweat it too much, just realize that, like everything else, babies have their own patterns, and advance at their own pace.. If he is happy, then there’s nothing to worry about.. Relax, and enjoy not having to worry about feeding him that way, anymore.. (and, I’m not saying that to be mean, and I’m sure you did it all right, in that the baby is happy, but, finally getting away from fulltime breastfeeding was a relief to my daughters)
