gwen asked:
I have a 6mo. and is teething really bad. I have to give her tylenol everynight before she goes to bed and sometimes during the day. I also give her baby oragel. She’s not a big fan of cold teething rings or cold wash cloths, so s all that medicine safe?

Ask the kids doctor, not Yahoo!
You should be asking your doc these questions.
READ THE LABEL. If you still don’t know, call the doctor.
Don’t take advice about your baby’s health from strangers on the internet!
i dont think giving your child that much tylenol is ok?
but no matter what i think, you should consult with the childs doctor for heathier/more natural help.
Take Care
It should be as long as you are not giving it to close together or to much at one time. Call your doc and ask them about dosage and how many hours you need to wait in between giving it to her. Good Luck.
yes, the medicine is safe as long as you are not giving her more than the amount your doc told you to use. many days, we had to give our daughter her recommended dosage at exactly every 4 hours. if the amount given every 4 hours wasn’t safe, then the bottle wouldn’t say “give every 4 hours. don’t exceed 4 doses a day” type of thing.
if it is really helping her, use it. it’s only for a week or so at a time. and if it were upsetting her, she’d let you know.
Now, our daughter knows what tylenol is and what it does. if she needs it, she’ll take it. But if she is fussing for another reason, she’ll refuse it.
I believe it says no more than five doses in a 24 hour period on the box. Read what the box says for a 6 month old.
Giving her Tylenol is fine. Just make sure you are giving her the proper dose for her weight. Tylenol can be given about every 4 hours but I would reccommend Ibuprofen, which can be given every 6 hours and works well to reduce inflamation.
You could also try teether bisquits.
What I do with infant tylenol is give half the dose every six hours instead of every four… and only when there’s a fever because tylenol isn’t really recommended. If your baby is in a lot of pain, unbearable pain, then it’s okay to give her medicine, as long as you don’t give her more than the label indicates because it can cause liver damage. You’re fine with the baby oragel, as long as it’s going on her gums and she’s not swallowing an excessive amount. What I also did when my daughter was teething was freeze those mini bagels and give those to her to knaw on and teething biscuits and arrowroot cookies. Good luck!
I would suggest that you would get the best response to this question from your doctor not from a bunch of quacks on this site. Do the proper thing and talk it over with your doctor and not a strangers who may give you misleading information. Good luck and hope you child soon does not need this medicine.
there is such thing as nbaby tylenol….ask ur doctor about it tho
A 6 month old in good health should weigh about 7 kg., right? The standard dose is 15 mg/kg, though 20 mg/kg is probably closer to correct. So she’ll need a bit more than a dropper-full or a bit less than 1 1/2 if you’re using infant drops, or somewhere in the vicinity of 3/4 tsp of elixir, 4 times a day.
I agree with the first person, talk to the baby’s doctor, not anyone on yahoo, no offense to all…
wow. people!
i think it’s .8mL to be safe

First I want to comment on those who think answering your question with a smug you should be calling your doc. etc….. are rude and very unhelpful so all that this applies to, do us all a favor and dont comment unless you intend on helping.
Gwen,
I am having the same problem with my 6mth old daughter. I try not to give her to much tylenol in one day, at the most I will give recommended dosage mid day and if really necessary at night right before bed time. But I recently noticed the last couple time I gave her tylenol her cheeks get really rosey I am calling her pediatrican 2morrow to find out if I should be concerned. To be on the safe side call the pediatrican or nurse advise this way you get professional and correct answers and it will make you feel at easy. Take care and good luck!
