I bathe my ferrets about once a week, but I don’t always use shampoo or conditioner when I bathe them. About once a month I use actual product, the other times, I’m just getting them wet…I agree, doing it too often is way harmful, what she’s talking about is ridiculous.

EVERY OTHER WEEK? ARE YOU CRAZY???!!!!!!

You must bath your ferret like about once every 2 months. Once a month is a bit too much especially for ferrets whose owners never take them outside.

“Watch an exotic animal health technician explain how to bathe a pet ferret” BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! YOU HAVEN’T EVEN WASH ONE AND SHOW US HOW TO HOLD HIM AND OTHER STUFF LIKE THAT!!!

BUT AGAIN ONCE A WEEK IS WAY TOO MUCH YOU STUPID!!!

get flea powder for a kitten or small animal and bathe her once a week also use a spray on the bedding and change it regularly til the infestation dies down, I used johnsons insecticidal powder and wash her with a flea repellant shampoo

Spot rinse their face get under the throat area and forehead part. Make sure you dry them well but very gently, leave them to dry in the towel and make sure the trip from the bathroom to the cage is not cold… the room with their cage should be warm to slightly cool place them in the cage and let them eat and drink some food and water getting a bath is tough on a ferret.

I have been reading up on ferrets and from what I know is you should bath them at least once to two times a month, to often is not good for the build up their gland musk and it causes dry skin that often flakes. To bath a ferret run your bathtub water on the warmer side lather the ferret with water, do not wet their head keep this part of them dry. Rub in your ferret shampoo or baby tear free shampoo on them from the neck down then rinse. clean their ears gently no water should go inside them.

once a month mine still stink after a bath.

20 bakkushan 03.09.10 at 9:52 pm

They do that for all their topics, not just animal care. I can imagine the director after the first take of the video: “Cut! Okay, that was good, but it was too informative. Can you cut back of the usefulness a little bit? We need more room for intro graphics and to plug your hospital.”

when Male ferrets get old the tend to smell like pee like my one . we had a female but she died because we didnt mate her

22 TheDarkplace 03.09.10 at 10:14 pm

I think we can all agree that we’ll NEVER agree on how often to bathe a ferret.

There are so many variables: Is the ferret kept indoors as a pet? Outdoors as a working animal? Male/Female, Spayed/Neutered ect…

I personally find that once a month works fine for me and my ferret. I also change out the bedding regularly as I find it holds most of the odour.

I will no doupt be told by someone that I am WRONG WRONG WRONG. But as long as my ferret is happy, I’ll carry on as is.

23 xdaysx 03.09.10 at 10:17 pm

I HATE How Expertvillage makes videos about animal care, yet they never SHOW you how to do it “You should bathe them”—Ok, HOW?

24 MuseUnmade 03.09.10 at 11:15 pm

I bathe mine once or twice a year. The key is to make sure their litter is changed regularly (several times a week for me with 2) and to wash their bedding every other week.
