2nd Trimester

What week have you been told starts your second trimester?

by Chris

second trimester
L80bug asked:

I am almost 13 weeks as of this Saturday. I’ve seen info online that says I am still in my first trimester until after my 13th week, but I’ve also seen medical/government affiliated sites that say I am already in my second trimester. What have you been told? My doctor considers me in the second trimester, as well. I know that I should go by that, but I wanted to see if there was an overall consensus.

Is there a reason for a woman to have to fill her bladder for a second trimester prenatal ultrasound?

by Chris

second trimester
T H asked:

In the hospital where I work, the Rad techs are requesting that women having a prenatal ultrasound arrive with full bladders, even if they are in their second trimester. The uterus should have lifted out of the pelvis and be visible by this point in the pregnancy. We have been having patient complaints because they are uncomfortable during the ultrasound. Is there any reason for the rad techs to be requesting this?

If you waited until your second trimester to tell people you were pregnant, how did you pass the time?

by Chris

mommy-to-be asked:

I really, REALLY don’t want to tell until I hear the baby’s heartbeat, or until the second trimester. Neither does my hubby. But we’ve only known for 5 days and it has felt like a long time!

Were you glad you waited to tell people? Was it hard for you? How did you make yourself be patient?
