How old should a child/kid be before stopping bed wetting? At what age should the kid stop wearing diapers? Curious, since my neighbor babysits a soon to be 8 yr old name Nicholas, who: 1st, wets the bed every night, sometimes wears pullups at night and is almost 8. Also, it was explained to me his mother tells him it is ok. Is this right? Tips so I could pass along would be welcome.

yes it is ok, some children do not stop until later in years, there is no set time. However if there is a concern a doctor can check for any medical reasons that this may be happening.
That is right. Some children have a reason for bedwetting. I had a sleep disorder that kept me from waking at night and so I would dream I was in the bathroom and end up wetting the bed. Also some have a weaker bladder so they can’t always hold it at night and might have an accident. Honestly I was 14 when I finally was able to outgrow bed wetting. it is more of a common problem than people care to admit and there is nothing wrong with it. During the day they are capable of getting to the bathroom in time but at night when they are asleep their minds won’t allow them to wakeup to use the restroom. No big deal and he has no reason to be embarrassed about it. Thats why they sell the overnight pullups that resemble underware, because it is a common problem.
looks like the parents failed at their job. But who is the failure here? The kid. what a shame. parents nowadays don’t want their spoiled bratts to ever grow up. if they could get away with it, they would still breast feed the kids at 12 years. and potty train at 13. The mom want’s the kid to soil himself so she can clean him. DAM SICKO!!
actualy bed wetting stops at a WIDE range of ages.. it can stop at 2 or stop at 15…
many teens wet the bed, so pull ups help with the mess…
theres really nothing to do to age a kids body out of bed wetting.. sometimes the parent can wake the child in the night to use the bathroom, sometimes there are night alarms that wake the child if they start to go thus making them get themself up to potty.
everyone is diffrent
A child should be around 5-6 yrs old when they stop wetting. Diapers stop at age 3ish. This shouldn’t be happening, but everyone is different. Encourage him to try and make it through the night without wetting and reward and praise him when he does.
Tips: Make him wash his own sheets; avoid the pullups; and approach it as if everything is going to be okay…
My sister (who’s name will not be mentioned because she will kill me) wet the bed until she was twelve. She just wasn’t able to go to the bathroom in the night. At twelve the doctor gave her a pill that she took for a week and I’m not sure how it worked, but she never wet the bed again. It is ok and it’s not the child’s fault at eight. I’m sure he doesn’t like wetting the bed. It’s not going to do any good to embarrass him for doing it. It is ok.
Each child is different so there is no magical age. I wet the bed past the age of 15 and wore diapers to bed until i could stay dry. My son that is almost 5 is a bed wetter and I still diaper him every night in regular diapers for bed wetting. My neighbors have a 12 yr old that wears a youth disposable diaper to bed every night for bed wetting. The sensory to wake a child when the bladder is full and mature is different for every child. It’s nothing to worry about or make a big deal about and I really wouldn’t say anything or give tips since 99% of the time bed wetting is not done on purpose. As a bed wetter I can tell you it just happens and most people who were not bed wetters don’t understand. Most think it’s weird for older kids to wear diapers at night but if you were a bed wetter, its comforting to know you will wake up in a dry bed and wearing a diaper is no big deal.
This is not abnormal, though Nicholas should be seen by his pediatrician. The goal before 5 or 6 years old is just to manage it; but if enuresis persists past 6 years of age, then the child’s pediatrician should begin evaluating the child to see if there are any physical causes, which occur in about 10% of all bedwetting children.
Aside from that, it is just managing the issue without damaging the self-esteem of the child.
Cheers
